( OPEN ) PAST AND FUTURE FLOOR 🌠
WHO: Everyone!
WHERE: Floor [REDACTED], the Timey Wimey floor
WHEN: Early April
WHAT: Floor that takes you to the past and future... literally!!
WARNINGS: None, will update if necessary!
While there have been floors that have caused changes to characters… there’s never been one quite like this. Upon visiting Floor [REDACTED], characters will find themselves amongst hundreds and hundreds of doors. But that’s not all — look hard enough, and you might find a door that looks extra familiar to you!
It could be the door to your house, the door to your room, the door to your favorite coffee shop, the gate to a garden you used to love. But what matters is that once you walk through it, you’ll be transported somewhere else entirely…

INTO THE PAST
Walking through a door with a partner will take you to an exact copy of a place from your home. It’s not the real thing, but it’s damn close. Won’t it be nice to have a look around and reminisce?
The one thing that's different about these spaces is that they're interlinked with other spaces; where one character's copied space ends, the other half of the pair's begins, allowing characters to visit both theirs and a companion's homes in one fell swoop.
There will be no other living creatures in each “copy,” other than those that walk through with you. The space can be as large or as small as you like — and it can even be outdoors! It’s a nonsensical pocket dimension, don’t worry about it.
Characters will also find that walking through these doors may cause them to appear younger than they really are, as if they traveled back through time. It’s up to each player how this manifests — how young characters become, if they retain their memories and/or personality or revert to how they were at that age, etc — and of course, some characters may not be affected at all.
Finally, you'll notice that the door locks behind you as you enter. Engraved on the door, there's a riddle to how you can leave:
a piece of the past, you'll bring to me,
you'll find that only that can be the key
Bring the door an item from each of your pasts, and the door will unlock once more. Sadly, no souvenirs, so the items will disappear once you walk through!

INTO THE FUTURE
But that’s not all! Because each door doesn’t consistently send you to a place from your past nor transform you to your younger self. Some of them do the exact opposite.
Stepping through may cause you to appear older than you really are, which, similarly, is up to each player.
But, where do these doors lead to, if not a place from the past?
The future — specifically, what the future will look like for you if your deepest wish is granted. Characters need not have a specific wish in mind for this to manifest — it could appear as if one of their more impulsive, fleeting, nonsensical wishes were granted, too (ex: wishing the whole world was made of ice cream). On the other hand, characters who have a wish in their heart to see someone again, or to accomplish a specific goal… will see just what the future could look like.
These spaces are more dreamlike, and less structured than the replicas. Think of it as being like watercolor — shifting and impermanent. Again, both characters' wishes will be blended into one space, which players are free to interpret as they like.
Another riddle will be on the door, for your escape:
speak each other's wishes aloud to me,
and only then will you be set free
Characters will need to investigate the dreamlike space and figure out what their partner's wish is in order to be freed! You'll each have to literally say each other's wish out loud to get out. Have fun!

future! (surprise me re: flavor of henry)
What the fuck?
[ The movement draws his eye, and he shifts a hand to reach into an inside pocket of his jacket. It hovers there, not removing anything for the moment. ]
Hey buddy, some answers would be great about now.
hands u a wet Henry
Pleasant!
Until finally, they slowly coil back and part. The alley is thick with slow-floating dust motes, and visibility is poor. No one steps forward just yet, but a wretchedly low and rumbling voice emits from that darkness:]
What’s there to say? This is how it all should be.

that she should not be here.
even her own breath seems to fall into a hush, as she at last forces herself to creep ... forward, somewhere, anywhere that isn't staying rooted in this awful place. then a banging on one of the doors! bananacat.gif
springs against the opposite wall, clawed fingers splayed as if her first instinct was to tear the flesh from whatever it is, and—
that's a young voice. locked away? ]

Name's Kanji. I just— came through the door. Sorry, guess I should have knocked.
[He doesn't know where he'd expected it to lead, but definitely not someone's home, especially with how run-down it had look.]
You expectin' someone...?

past - 002
It's sort of...vague, and he doesn't really understand why his- his walk home? His walk - why it feels like this. How he ended up somewhere that just feels like lurking horrible things are waiting to get him. (This not being the Sumeru Akademiya doesn't seem to faze him, though.)
Kaveh stops cold when he hears someone talking. It's quiet, but it's nearby. The hallway's lined with doors, and he moves as quietly as he can (fortunately, Akademiya uniform shoes aren't at all loud) from door to door until he reaches one with a voice behind it.
There's a bang, then, and Kaveh jumps - and yelps, despite himself.]
Ah-! Uh. [His eyes are very wide, watching the door for any signs of anything, and he's already holding his breath - at least until youthful curiosity wins out over terror.] Is...someone. In there?

Reiju straightens with a pleasantly soft smile, more out of conditioned reflex than purposeful intention. She holds her hands at her back while her eyes, big and blue, follow the woman's movement. In an impossibly young voice that's still unmistakably hers, the child in a pink dress stamped with a zero simply asks:]
Is this the way?

And then a young woman startles him.
Henry nearly jumps out of his skin, turning on his heels to face her, eyes wide. He stammers a little, caught off-guard.]

Though the library itself is rather dark, the wizard produces his own light easily enough, and is pulling a particularly delicate-looking volume from the shelf when he catches a glimpse of another light in the middle distance— a candle, rather than magic, and he turns towards it as he bids his own floating orb of light to expand and grow brighter.]
Oh—
[He squints through the dim light as the candle's bearer gasps, her hand to her chest. A familiar face, indeed.]
Giselle, is that you?

Speaking of Kokomi... ]
I. into the past
[ A young girl can be found in the halls of the shrine, holding a large book and looking for a place where she can hide and read it uninterrupted. Should someone approach her she'll look at them with a wide-eyed expression that's one part shyness and one part being caught in the act of sneaking off.
The future Divine Priestess is supposed to be at a lesson right now. ]
II. into the future
[ In another part of the island near the shore, colors bleed together and the shapes become far less definite. There sits an elderly version of Kokomi, that same book sitting in her lap as she gazes out into the ocean. She's calm and relaxed as she does so, seemingly without a care in the world.
It's a hard-earned tranquility, of course. Her dearest wish is peace and prosperity for her people, one that she's put a lot of work into over the years. Now that her eldest daughter has ascended to the role of Divine Priestess, Kokomi herself can finally, finally allow herself to fade a bit into the background.
She lights up with a smile when she sees you, still bright and aware despite her age. ]
It's been a long time since we've met, and yet it often feels like my time in the Hotel was just yesterday.
[ Because it was. ]
Please, come have a seat. It's good to see you.
I
Well, he's always had a soft spot for kids! He flashes her a grin before giving her a small wave.]
Hey there! I'm not gonna hurt ya... Just exploring this little shrine of yours. You live around here?
i
The boy that approaches absolutely towers over her, but he offers a tentative, lopsided smile as he sinks his hands into his pockets and leans down so that he's marginally closer to eye-level with her. It only sort of works.]
You, uh, lookin' to cut class?
[He's got a lot of experience with that.]
The trick is to find someplace real out of the way.
ii
He greets her with a smile all the same, crinkling about the eyes as he always does when happiest, and bends one arm before himself before he gives her a deep bow in response.]
It would be my pleasure. I'm glad for the opportunity to see your home, at last.
i !!
Then he went through another door and now a younger man in a green uniform is walking through his library. Well. It's not his library, but it's as much his as it is any other student's, and he's looking for-
It doesn't matter that he can't remember, actually. There's someone up ahead, holding a book tight to their chest, looking a little panicked. Lost, maybe? Or not meant to be here checking out books?]
Hey...are you okay?

[Welcome to the Ewwdo Netherworld - One of the many worlds in the Hinomoto Cluster! In this day and age, the cruel invader known as Demmodore Opener hasn't taken over and the current shogun is Gachiyasu - Yeyasu's father. Now underneath Gachiyasu's rule, one could say that it's an era of stagnate peace where the shogun is beloved, the shogunate isn't corrupted and the citizens are happy. Hinomoto is moving steadily, yet there hasn't been true change to make progress and expose the flaws of the Netherworld Cluster.
As usual, the streets had various citizens either doing business at their shops or mingling with one another. And every now and then, you might see a few warriors such as the Male and Female samurai checking out the quest boards looking for business of any kind. The economy at this time was good for warriors who were seeking opportunities to use their skills for money.
But sitting on a bench all by himself happened to be a younger Yeyasu looking quite sober. Considering that was the eldest of the Edogawa family meant that he under a lot of strict training and expectations were placed upon him. His father could pass away one day which would make him the shogun next up. This didn't allow him many chances to make friends around his age.]
... Wish something interesting would happen around here one of these days. Every day is just lesson, lesson, lesson...
II. Into The Future
[And the next door will lead you into Yeyasu's future... This next Netherworld happened to be Yokohorror which happens to be much more modernized than Ewwdo. Now that Yeyasu has become shogun, he made sure to update parts of Hinomoto that were inspired from what he's read in books. However, one thing that he has not forgotten was the tradition essence that made Hinomoto, well, Hinomoto. Compared to the previous era, you'll see tour guides showing newcomers special attractions and even a handful of other races (such as humans) walking around.
Naturally, there were some naysayers that were still against his ideals of opening Hinomoto's borders to foreigners and tourism... But after the war with Opener, many people were quite understanding and accepting the fact that Hinomoto really needed to rebound after suffering great losses. Yeyasu who had a very rough start as shogun was now in the people's good graces! And he's gained more of a work ethic... In fact, he was a borderline workaholic with all of the paperwork and reading that he had to do.
But today, he was taking a break from his duties! Stepping out of the family villa, one would find an older Yeyasu (the only new thing to note was his glasses) who looked exactly the same! After all, demons aged far slower compared to humans and other races. Unlike his past self who was sadder and lonelier, this Yeyasu has a eager grin on his face.]
Okaaaay! I've got a good batch of work done today, so I'll go scope out the streets and see how the people are doing!

Having gone through this once, Reiju reckons she can hazard a guess as to what's engraved on the door behind her. As before, her memories are intact, though a childish wonder bubbles in her chest at the wondrous sight of the Elderflower Inn. It's a lovely place at a glance, and the innkeeper fits right in.
She smiles up at Sumina.]

It's unsurprising that he was given this assignment, too. He always gets these high-profile ones, the ones that require the most attention, the most firepower. There's far too many of this classification for him to do on his own, but...anyway. He's not thinking about that right now, instead strolling up to the girl behind the desk. Ah...she's pretty cute, isn't she?
With one hand in his pocket, he leans against the front desk with the other, head canting to one side. Behind his frames, his eyes shimmer with the fire of potential, of holding the world in his palm. ]

But Sumina has also come to understand that such visions are usually only that - visions. To be left up to interpretation, to leave the future malleable, rather than understanding it to be set in stone... Even if she's sort of a hypocrite to think this, when she could only see one path for her future the moment she gave up on sorcery. But... well, she's started to entertain new avenues for her life, thanks to a certain someone. ]
If you're so eager to see it, then you'll just have to come along with me for a proper visit.
[ whatever these door magicks come up with surely cannot compare to walking in its storied halls in the flesh. Even her own suite, which is rather a close approximation, contains a few anachronisms here and there, and perhaps even more so now.
Regardless, her other hand grips the doorknob, but before turning it, she casts just one last glance over her shoulder at him. ]
We can think of it like... getting our fortune read. Whatever lies beyond this door can't hold as much weight as our own actions. That being said... we don't have to go in.

He only had a few carefree weeks here before it all went wrong. He can't help but blame himself.
Hearing Gojo speak, he turns his head to glance at him before he huffs out a little laugh, crossing his arms. He's not going to say he thinks he's stronger than Gojo-sensei is at this point in his life, but he knows he's pretty strong! Does he let his cursed energy flare just a little bit? It's not as if he has Sukuna to worry about...
Shaking his head, he leans forward. ]
Do you wanna check that again, senpai?
