[ Elevator-riders today may notice an out of place card stuck on one side of the elevator, with the words "We invite you to Floor 11." Those who follow the guidance of the mysterious card and travel to the floor will find a trail of playing cards leading them to the floor's lounge, which has been brightly decorated in cat-themed decor of red and teal. There is also a gray and teal porcelain tea set on the table; the fragrant aroma of a rich black tea fills the air. There are also plates filled with shortbread cookies, scones with jam and small finger sandwiches.]

[ At the small stage in the center of the lounge are two similarly-dressed figures, smiling brightly (well one of them is) as people trickle in. The male of the pair steps forward to give a bow and a flourish of his arms. ]

Welcome to our welcome party, for us! We're so honored you could make it!

To help ourselves get settled in, we invite you to some tea and snacks made by my wonderful sister Lynette. Or to come and chat with myself, the humbly charming Lyney.

But if that isn't enough to keep things interesting, we invite you to play a game with us. A simple word game, of course, nothing complicated for our first meeting. Simply take the last word of our sentence and start your next sentence with it, and we will do the same. The first one to trip up is the loser! I must warn you though, my sister has a sharp way with words.

Crossing one leg over the other, Reiju settles across Lynette. She sets her teacup down after another sip and eyes the materialized cup in the latter's grasp.]

That's a handy trick.

[ After gently blowing on her tea, she takes a small sip and nods in satisfaction. ]

It comes in handy, especially when your hands are full.

Is it a sleight of hand?

[cathasahat]

Yes. We're magicians, but this is a skill that's useful in other situations too.

[venomnom]

Like now.

[Her smile widens a smidgen before she picks up a sandwich, feeling its light weight on her palm.]

How are you enjoying your stay so far? Are the stages here suitable for a show?

[cathasahat]

[ The sandwiches come in a variety of flavors suitable for afternoon tea, including the classic cucumber finger sandwich. ]

We haven't managed to explore everywhere, of course, but I'm impressed by the variety of rooms and decorations. We've seen some good options for a show--and of course, we're used to performing in all sorts of situations.

[Classics are classics for a reason. She brings the cucumber sandwich close to her jaw.]

Still, this is a hotel, and the two of you are guests. You must be here for more than a performance.

We didn't mean to come here, but figured we might as well stay for a while. Do other people choose to come to the hotel?

[venomnom]

For one reason or another, we've all chosen to stay. Of course, you don't need a reason to justify your stay, either.

[cathasahat]

It's an impressive building, even the little we've seen so far.

[venomnom]

The floors are always changing. If you have an adventurous spirit, you won't bore so easily.

[cathasahat]

Fascinating. Is there anything else a newcomer should know about the hotel?

[venomnom]

Every so often, there are malfunctions where certain floors will behave strangely. Other times, the concierge hosts an event.

[cathasahat]

Do there seem to be any common features when it comes to these malfunctions or events, or are they random?

[venomnom]

They seem to be random on the hotel's part. Our concierge wants us to get along, though, and most occurrences encourage guests to work together.

[She bites into the finger sandwich, chewing as she recalls the details.]

[cathasahat]

[ She will also pick up a snack--a cookie in her case--and take a bite as she thinks, brow furrowing slightly. ]

That seems like a relatively simple goal compared to an elaborate setting and events.

[venomnom]

If it's the goal, that is.

[She takes another bite with a smile, finishing off the snack.]

[cathasahat]

Oh? What do you think the goal is?

[venomnom]

I don't know. But I do wonder how generous the hotel is willing to be.

[cathasahat]

Mm. I'd rather not discover that limit inadvertently.

[venomnom]

Do you think it'll be so low?

[cathasahat]

I'd hope not, but if we're here for a while then the probability will naturally increase.

[venomnom]

You're very cautious.

Still, I wouldn't let it color your stay. After all, this is still a luxurious experience for most.

[cathasahat]

It's just my natural personality, I'm afraid. But I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

[venomnom]

Me, too.

[Having partaken of the finger sandwich in full, she leans back into her seat.]

I'm sorry: I don't mean to cause you worry. Despite what I've just said, it's not as bad here as you might think. There are always amenities, and many of the guests are hospitable.
