EVENT LOG number 005 Happy February, folks! The hotel is chugging along as it always does and nothing really seems that out of the ordinary, actually. Mr Bennet is at the front desk as per usual, greeting new guests, checking out old ones, generally being mediocre at his job but there's something a little... off about him this morning. A little more Springtime focused. Is it the suit? No, no, that's the same as it always is. Is it the face? No, Mr Bennet's face is unable to be perceived by eyes as per usual. No, it's the — The bunny ears? HOP TO IT It seems Mr Bennet has developed a pair of bunny ears and a tail overnight, but he's not the only one. Every staff member and guest of the hotel will find that they have grown a pair of animal ears and a matching tail when they wake up that morning. It's nekomimi time, y'all! But not just neko, characters will find themselves with all categories of ears and tails. Cats, dogs, rabbit, deer, fish. Whatever animal best suits the characters are what they'll find themselves sporting. For all intents and purposes, these will be part of your characters bodies and real additional limbs. It will hurt if someone hurts them and they will bleed if someone cuts them. There will be some added bonuses as well as characters will also take on the traits of the animals they become. However players want to interpret this is up to them — it can be light like a cat person just being more aloof or heavy like a spider person having multiple eyes and limbs. Whatever is most fun for the player and most hectic for the character, of course. This effect will last till the end of the month. Of course, an additional note: For characters who already have animal ears and/or tails — they will either keep those ears and tails and develop more traits of that animal. Or they can become something entirely different for the month. Player preference! ANIMAL CRACKERS Mr Bennet has found this to be hysterical though so he has set up a stall in the main lounge that's advertising animal crackers. They're a little less cracker and more cookie though, and larger than the traditional animal cracker. They also come in all shapes and sizes. If you can think of the animal, you can have an animal cracker with it. There is a dog cracker. There is a whale cracker. There is a spider cracker. All kinds of things. Even fictional animals, like gryphons and dragons! The only catch is — once your character eats the cracker they will become that animal entirely. This is probably tipped off by the bunny rabbit hopping around the lounge in a little hotel jacket, huh. Thanks Mr Bennet. The effect of these crackers will last as long as the player prefers and characters are free to eat another cracker and become another animal afterwards. One thing though, as the animal, characters will still be able to speak in animal form. So there's that! The animal crackers will also be available till the end of the month. [ Come to Hotel Caelum, they said. It’ll be a great relaxing time, they said. And Charlie had listened, ready to get a break from the oddities that plagued his everyday life. Silly him, because the moment he gets settled, he finds himself sporting a pair of sandy blond dog ears and a tail to match.

Hm. Hmmm.

He flicks an ear at whoever seems to be nearby, clocking their presence without seeming to mean to. He turns and indicates his floppy canine ears with a finger. ]

Excuse me, is this normal?

[ For a given definition of the word “normal.” ]

two. 📚 A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME

[ Oh, now he’s starting to get a sense that weird stuff is going to be a part of his life no matter where he goes, especially after an animal cracker straight up turned him into a little bluebird. At least getting to fly around is cool! Even if he’s not very good at it yet.

Speaking of, incoming! There’s a little bluebird haphazardly flying over to perch on you, feet scrambling to find purchase in clothes or fur or whatever you happen to be sporting right now. ]

[ Obligatory wildcard. As Charlie is new, please drag him into shenanigans! ]

[ There is a little bluebird on his shoulder. And it's talking to him. This should be more surprising but as it is, Nanami just seems perfectly at ease with this and assumes it must be another guest of the hotel. The fluffy blond wolf tail attached to him even wags a little. Oops. ]

It's okay. I don't have any advice for you regarding flying though, unfortunately. Just keep trying?

[ Once settled on Nanami's shoulders, Charlie heaves a little sigh of relief, though it comes out more like a chirp. ]

Whew. I have been, and let me tell you, it's not as easy as birds make it look! Anyway, sorry about the intrusion. I didn't damage anything, did I?

[ Cute...... Nanami is making a vow right now not to give into his wolf urge to chase the bird and instead continues to let Charlie rest on his shoulder. His suit jacket is fine though, no damage taken and so he relays as much to Charlie. ]

So, you haven't been a bird for very long then.

[ What a sentence. ]

And it's fine, I don't see any damage to my jacket. You're more than welcome to rest there as long as you like. I was just about to grab lunch.

[ Charlie has yet to even consider that their animal characteristics might come into play here. He's just a lil guy taking a rest. ]

Couple hours at best. My advice, maybe don't get any animal crackers with your lunch.

But hey, I appreciate it. If you don't mind a passenger, I'm feeling a bit— [ heh ] —peckish.

[ Just a lil guy! Nanami feels vaguely like Snow White right now, with how he's just talking to a little bluebird on his shoulder. But he'll start walking again, making sure to go slowly so Charlie can remain steady. He's heading for one of the cafes on the first floor, nowhere too special. ]

Good to know, I'll steer clear.

[ The pun is...... terrible and Nanami's eyes do narrow slightly behind his sunglasses but he is not going to acknowledge it. ]

I'm always up for company with a meal so this is fine with me. I wonder if you can eat normal foods like this or only what a bluebird might eat.

[Except a bluebird is so much bigger than a tiny little jumping spider, that "perching" on his head is the equivalent of bearing down on him with something far too big, and he flattens out on the ground, eight legs splaying.

[ He clearly doesn't seem to realize he's landed on someone, and lifts his foot with an awkward hop. ]

[Henry immediately gets up, skittering forward and turning around, tilting his head up to look at Charlie with those two huge front eyes. He should be leery, or at least a little instinctually afraid of a predator like a bird, but... Well, it's Henry. So.

Indignantly, his front pedipalps rub at his eyes.]

Look before you leap. [Or fly, in this case.] It seems everyone with wings is having trouble around the hotel.

[ It's a good thing that Charlie doesn't actually mean any harm, then! He nestles down, tucking his little birdie legs into this feathers. ]

Yeah, it's kind of an adjustment, and walking takes forever with these little legs.

[ He tilts his head. ]

I can't even imagine how long it takes you to cross a room.

[Tilts his little spider head right back.]

This body isn't so bad. But it's small, and yes, it's taking too long to get anywhere.

[ There is a little pomeranian with a green ribbon tied around her neck sitting by Charlie's feet. ]

[ Charlie's new ears swivel down to find Pomina before his eyes do. ]

Oh, hey! I didn't even see you there. You, uh, you know what's going on around here?

The hotel decided to bestow each guest with animal features and mannerisms, just as you have now...

And also, stay away from those animal-shaped cookies being given out as complimentary treats...! Well. Unless you're using them strategically like I am.

[ He squats down to get on her level, his own tail wagging behind him. He can't help that she's so cute!! ]

[ That's so polite of him! Pomina's tail is wagging in turn, even if her posture seems to suggest that she is attempting to impose a larger presence than she actually has. It would seem atypical of her, if they weren't strangers, but it also feels quintessentially... like small dog behavior. ]

This hotel is host to very, ah... magical happenings every now and again. Last month, the floor turned into lava and then into ice. This time around we've all been given animal traits. And the crackers turn you into whatever animal it's shaped like. I ate a dog-shaped cracker, for instance.

[Charlie lands on the scaly back of a saltwater crocodile, sprawled out atop a strange steed that looks a mixture of goat and horse, plodding along. How did Rowan get up here? Don't worry about it.

He barely feels the bluebird land on him, but it does register, and he tries to speak a few words -- except they come a bit muffled because he has a silver staff clenched in his long jaws, too.

Still, if he listens hard enough, it probably sounds like:]

Not so much chirping, I've barely gotten him to slow down.

[ Hp hop hop, Charlie makes his way to the top of the crocodile's head. ]

Torrent? Ah, look, if you wanna let go of that thing in your mouth, I can catch it for you and we can have an actual talk.

[He'd say this is the most wild thing that's happened to him, but it'd be a lie -- though it's pretty high up there.]

[He can't really see what Charlie is, but he can hazard a guess, given the exclamation-chirps prior.]

[Well, it doesn't matter anyway, because said staff is listing precariously to the side as he speaks too many words.]

[That 'someone nearby' happens to also be sporting a pair of canine ears— a touch more alert than Charlies— and a curled tail to match, both of which perk up noticeably upon being addressed.]

Well— I suppose 'normal' is rather relative, isn't it?

This is the first time any of us have found ourselves sporting animal ears, but unusual happenings? Those are quite common around here, I'm afraid. Largely harmless, of course!

Charming as it may be, I don't usually have a tail, no— and I'll now have even greater respect for those who do.

An anomaly for you as well, then! It should pass soon enough. Most things do, but we manage to have our fun with these little hiccups, for the most part. Only... some have been dangerous.

Only some? Like what? And what kind of fun-to-danger ratio are we talking about here? I'm supposed to be on vacation, and while I don't mind a bit of weirdness, I'd just like to know what I'm getting into.
