[ Sometime in the late afternoon of the 20th, server member @ sumina notifies everyone (yes, @ everyone) that there will be a guest get-together at one of the large lounges on Floor 32. No one is expected to bring anything but themselves, though those who have diligently combed through everyone's birthday codes might realize that a party happening today isn't purely coincidental...

...And if not, it becomes clear enough upon arrival! The lounge has been turned into a karaoke lounge, but that's not all - there are birthday balloons and streamers artfully placed around the room, along with a banner that reads: Happy Birthday, Yuji! and a birthday cake on one of the tables.

The karaoke machine magically knows every song from every world represented here at the hotel, so don't even worry about not having anything to sing. Even ancient hymns are included on this bad boy. Not the type to sing? Too bad. The microphone will at times simply choose someone to sing, flying into one's hand Mjolnir-style, and the only way to get it out of one's hand is to sing your little heart out. Bonus: tell us what your character sings! Maybe the machine will even give you a (RNG from 1-100) score...

For those waiting for their turn to sing, there are fun little instruments like castanets, maracas, and tambourines to play around with along with this little guy, and also fun party hats and costume pieces. Guests are also encouraged to take photos with a Polaroid camera that's going around, but for some reason, everyone's photos are coming out with strange filters over their faces?

There's also a veritable spread of Japanese food, snacks, and desserts over all the tables as well. Yes, including Pocky... There's juice and also juice (for the grown-ups) and the staff are around should anyone have any special requests.

[ Yuji is, of course, beyond excited to go to a get-together - especially after how rough the last few weeks have been for him - so he's making his way up to the floor as soon as he's told it's time to go, stepping in and feeling a bubble of excitement when he recognises that it is.

Karaoke!

He's a little too enchanted by the fact that there's a chance for karaoke to notice the decorations, at least at first, but when he steps into the room he realises... Happy Birthday... Him? He stands, staring at the banner and the cake for a moment, as if he's lost all ability to think, and then he's lifting his hand to his mouth to stop himself from either laughing or crying. His body can't seem to figure out which one it wants to do. ]

All this... It's too much, don't you think?

[ But, more than anything else, he's so obviously happy that any sad thoughts are chased away immediately.

For the rest of the night, Yuji is everywhere! He greets people, he sings, he dances, he has some cake, and he definitely messes around with every single instrument. If someone wants to sing a duet and doesn't have a partner, he volunteers. He ends up staying up late, but looks absolutely over the moon when the evening comes. ]

[ It's not too much at all! Still, Sumina is glad when Yuji seems to lean into his joy more and more throughout the night, and she'll be glad to just let him do his thing, singing his heart out, performing duets, rocking out on the various instruments, being, you know, a young teenager...

In between songs at some point, though, she'll approach him with her hands behind her back. ]

Yuji! May I steal you away for a moment?

[ It's nice to let himself be happy for a little while, excited to do one of his favourite hobbies. He didn't even consider the possibility of doing karaoke here - why would he, with everything else going on? - but now that he's here, it seems like such an obvious thing to do in the hotel. It's hard for him to keep himself under control, but he's managing.

He stops what he's doing when Sumina approaches, expression immediately warming. ]

Of course you can! What's up, Sumina-san?

[ She can't help but smile back - how could she not, when met with such a warm expression from Yuji?

Something occurs to her, though, and for a moment she looks thoughtful and a little bit bashful. ]

Actually, ah... You could call me by my nickname if you'd like. Yuji. It's Mina.

[ "Mina-san" would be fine, too. He doesn't need to be so formal with her, so perhaps asking him to call her by her nickname can be a step towards that. ]

For real?

[ Yuji brightens immediately. She calls him just 'Yuji', which doesn't bother him, he prefers it, and there's no way he's going to reject her. Nodding, he swallows back the bubbling excitement he's still feeling.

His energy is probably a little infectious, but he's not going to hold back. Not when they've all been so sad. ]

Okay, Mina-san!

[cathasahat]

Are you Yuji? Happy birthday.

[ She's found a party popper and opens it in his direction. ]

Yeah, that's me!

[ Grinning, he reaches out and takes a popper himself, bursting it in her direction in return. ]

Thank you! This is kind of crazy, huh?

It is? I suppose the lighting could be considered dramatic.

[ Though her standards may be skewed, since she works as a magician's assistant so flashy lighting is par four the course. ]

Yeah, a little over the top, but it was nice that it was organised to begin with!

[ He's clearly delighted. ]

Especially with karaoke! I never thought to do that here.

[ Of course, they'll have to perform a duet at some point, neither of them will allow this party to end until it happens, but first things first: Gojo is zipping right up to Yuji's side soon after he's arrived, throwing an arm around his shoulders and affectionately mussing his hair with his hand. ]

Yuji-kun! HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAAY! Do you want your gift now, or do you want it now?

[ Hopefully he wants it now...although notably, Gojo doesn't appear to have anything in either of his hands. ]

Sensei! Thank you!

[ Gojo is so loud, but right now Yuji doesn't mind. He's glad to have something happy and exciting after all of their shared sadness, and being able to celebrate his birthday with Gojo-sensei is exactly what he had wished for from the beginning. He wanted to spend more time with him and Nanamin, and that's what he's getting.

Why wouldn't he be happy?

Looking at Gojo's hands, he tilts his head, frowning a little. ]

What gift? You don't have anything!

[ Truthfully, this is something they both need, and Yuji's birthday just proved itself the perfect opportunity for a little healing through bonding. And singing like completely dumbasses. It's good to see Yuji like this, too — they've had far too much heartache lately, and it's about time they had something to celebrate.

Someone to celebrate, a chance to remind Yuji just how special, how important he is, as an individual, as himself. ]

Ehehe, it was a little too big to wrap, but if you close your eyes and hold out your hands, I'll go grab it and be right back!

[ Oh, no, that can't be a good sign...but never let it be said that Gojo Satoru does things by halves. ]

[ Yuji doesn't think he can be faulted for being a little apprehensive about whatever it is that his teacher might have found for him - the fact that he can't carry it in his hands is worrying enough, right? He shifts a little, looking nervous, but he manages a smile all the same. He's allowed to spend his birthday with Gojo-sensei! It's all he had asked for!

That's enough of a gift, really, there didn't need to be anything more than that. ]

Alright, but I hope it isn't weird...

[ And, lifting his hands, he covers his eyes. ]

[Whenever it comes to parties, Yeyasu is always there to live it up! He's not the shogun of ceremonies for nothing. If it was someone's birthday, then he felt obligated to give the person in question his blessing. He's never met Yuji, but this was the perfect introduction more than anything else.]

Uh-hyahyahya! ★ You can never go "too much" or "too hard" whenever you're partying, bro!

[And since it was a birthday, he had a pair of gifts in hand for occasions like this. One was a dragon man and the other was a cat girl... He hopes that this boy was okay with receiving plushies for a birthday gift.]

[ Yuji is still definitely a little overwhelmed by it all - he hadn't expected any kind of celebration, let alone a party with his name all over it - but he has thrown himself into it, enjoying it with a sparkling delight he can't hide. He's acting like the energetic teen that he has, the kind of energy that has been missing over the last few weeks. ]

Aah, I guess! It's been a while since I was at a party!

[ He's definitely fine with accepting any kind of plushies, and his eyes widen as he reaches out to take them, fighting the urge to grin. They're so cute... ]

Heh... Glad that you're into plushies! They can make for some good comfort tools on those quiet and cold nights.

[There's a grin on his face whenever Yuji takes it and he looks quite satisfied with himself. Yeyasu even has one himself in his bedroom. He has always been a bit of an anxiety crybaby whenever he was all by himself.]

[He laughs a little as he approaches.]

We don't know each other yet, but I thought I should give you my best wishes first.

[He smiles brightly.]

I'm Aether... And I just happened to join this party since it was open for everyone. I hope you don't mind.

[ He waves his hand, beaming. It's obvious that his name is Yuji, given the banner, but he bows all the same. ]

It's nice to meet you, I'm Itadori Yuji! Thanks for coming, even if you don't know me! I hope you enjoy yourself.

It's nice to meet you as well. [He grins.]

I'm having a lot of fun. This is the first time I've been to this kind of party.

[A pause, before he realizes that it may have sounded like he's never been to any birthday before.]

I mean I've never took part in karaoke before.

[There's a severe looking redheaded woman who's able to tell who the birthday boy is based on his stunned reaction. Amelia has gone to the karaoke bar, mostly to catch up with Sumina, but you know what, she's not gonna reject birthday cake.

The boy's name... Ah.

The witch takes a bite of cake before bringing it up.]

Yuji... Yuji Itadori, is that correct? I've been away for two weeks, so I'm guessing your teachers have already caught you up to speed about this hotel. I hope you've been enjoying yourself so far.

[ It's a little overwhelming, all these people wishing him a birthday that he had forgotten, but he can handle it like a pro! Being able to be happy after the weeks of sadness is a relief, and he's going to grasp it with both his hands.

He also gives her a proper bow in greeting, because he was raised right. ]

That's right! It's been pretty good, I guess! I've definitely been in worse places.

You're welcome. The hotel can also throw its own curveballs, but if Gojo-sensei has taught you properly with the jujutsu sorcery he's mentioned offhand, then I'll assume that you're perfectly capable at handling them.

[She blinks at the bow, but manages to remember to bow her head in return and for a proper introduction.]

My name is Amelia Steinbeck. I'm a high school teacher in my world.

[There's a bit of a pause.]

[Kanji is glad he's not the only one who was going to insist that Yuji celebrate his birthday; Sumina-senpai has everything well in hand, but he's still made a contribution of his own in the form of cupcakes decorated to look like tigers.]

Nah, it ain't too much! You can't let a birthday go by without doin' somethin' fun!

[He doesn't know what heavy thoughts Yuji's been carrying around with him, but he's pretty sure everyone can make at least a little time for cake.]

What're you thinkin' about singing?

[ As soon as he sees the cupcakes Yuji is utterly enchanted, reaching out to touch one before remembering it's food and he can't just be shoving his fingers into all of them. He's excited to say the least, rocking on his feet a little before he beams at Kanji. ]

You did an amazing job, senpai! Look at them, they're so cool!

[ They're so cute, too... ]

I dunno what I'm singing yet, but I'll probably do anything!

Y-yeah? You really like 'em?

[Kanji's grin hitches wide, his cheeks only coloring slightly at the compliment. He's getting a little more confident about this kind of thing, and considering how much he'd insisted on doing something, there's not a lot of room to be embarrassed this time around.]

It was actually pretty fun! Think I'll start makin' stuff like this more often.

[Being called 'senpai' is still weird, but he could get used to that.]

Singin' in front of everyone, though... I dunno if I can do it.
