Happy February, folks! The hotel is chugging along as it always does and nothing really seems that out of the ordinary, actually. Mr Bennet is at the front desk as per usual, greeting new guests, checking out old ones, generally being mediocre at his job but there's something a little... off about him this morning. A little more Springtime focused. Is it the suit? No, no, that's the same as it always is. Is it the face? No, Mr Bennet's face is unable to be perceived by eyes as per usual. No, it's the —
The bunny ears?
HOP TO IT
It seems Mr Bennet has developed a pair of bunny ears and a tail overnight, but he's not the only one. Every staff member and guest of the hotel will find that they have grown a pair of animal ears and a matching tail when they wake up that morning. It's nekomimi time, y'all! But not just neko, characters will find themselves with all categories of ears and tails. Cats, dogs, rabbit, deer, fish. Whatever animal best suits the characters are what they'll find themselves sporting.
For all intents and purposes, these will be part of your characters bodies and real additional limbs. It will hurt if someone hurts them and they will bleed if someone cuts them. There will be some added bonuses as well as characters will also take on the traits of the animals they become. However players want to interpret this is up to them — it can be light like a cat person just being more aloof or heavy like a spider person having multiple eyes and limbs. Whatever is most fun for the player and most hectic for the character, of course.
This effect will last till the end of the month.
Of course, an additional note: For characters who already have animal ears and/or tails — they will either keep those ears and tails and develop more traits of that animal. Or they can become something entirely different for the month. Player preference!
ANIMAL CRACKERS
Mr Bennet has found this to be hysterical though so he has set up a stall in the main lounge that's advertising animal crackers. They're a little less cracker and more cookie though, and larger than the traditional animal cracker. They also come in all shapes and sizes. If you can think of the animal, you can have an animal cracker with it. There is a dog cracker. There is a whale cracker. There is a spider cracker. All kinds of things. Even fictional animals, like gryphons and dragons!
The only catch is — once your character eats the cracker they will become that animal entirely. This is probably tipped off by the bunny rabbit hopping around the lounge in a little hotel jacket, huh. Thanks Mr Bennet. The effect of these crackers will last as long as the player prefers and characters are free to eat another cracker and become another animal afterwards.
One thing though, as the animal, characters will still be able to speak in animal form. So there's that!
The animal crackers will also be available till the end of the month.

[It has nothing to do with keeping away from the others - her instinct is to ensure just the opposite. At the very least, Giselle should be with the people who haven't found themselves undergo unexpected changes just from eating a cookie and away from guests who found themselves wolves.
A real dog at work never sits, but Odette isn't fully beyond controlling her actions. She sits back on her haunches, though she keeps her hefty figure parked right in the middle of the hallway.]
Just directing the flow of traffic. You know, herding the flock. Guess it's not so different from running a tight crew.

[ If a goat could chuckle, that's what she does in the moment, the soft bleat of her voice muted and almost melodious in a way. Ever so slowly, her eyes flick behind Odette to the long expanse of hallway behind them — underneath the stubbornness inherent from this form, there is also an instinct to be herded, too. Or, at the very least, to allow herself to be herded by a more authoritative figure, now that it's ben established that Odette is not openly going to prey on her. ]
Then, I suppose I have you to thank for thinking of my safety.
[ Her horned head bows in a show of politeness, even if the words themselves are light and nearly teasing. Her hooves shuffle on the carpeted floor until she's turned half around, successfully convinced from continuing to try to force her way through. But that doesn't mean she's going to leave Odette all by her lonesome: ]
Have you an objection to showing me the way? To this "flock."
[ Be it figurative or literal — she's sure Odette has a sense for where beings in this sort of form should be corralled for their safety, and she can be obedient when she remembers herself. Odette is, after all, a Dog With a Job; why not let her do that job? It might be cute. ]

Guess someone's gonna have to steer you there. Better get walking, missy.
[Head lowering well below her shoulders, she trots over, content to pad a few paces behind Giselle as long as she walks without complaint. Almost anyone else in the hotel would likely congregate in the cafeteria, even with all the other eateries available. On the other hand, Giselle's only trips to the dining hall are to ensure that everyone else has what they need. Odette will have to let her herding instinct take them somewhere else.]
That fancy house of yours, is it more of a country house or a city house? [She's under the impression it doesn't follow common property laws, but every house has a certain way of looking and feeling.]

...I suppose that it is more the former than the latter.
[ She hums out, after some quiet time to contemplate. it's kind of nice that she's not looking directly at Odette as she explains this — she knows how preposterous the nature of the house sounds to most people. But Odette's always had a fairly accepting demeanor, about the various mysteries that dot her life. ]
Where it sat last was on an island with a very small fishing village, hidden away on a cliff. Before then... outside the capital of England, London, in a quiet wood. Though I would not say that it has a visage truly befitting of the countryside.
[ At least, she seems to take 'country' and 'city' literally, thinking that Odette is asking whether the mansion was surrounded by the hustle and bustle of civilization or not. ]

As they reach one of the atriums on this floor, hallways opening up into a wider, clearer space with more places to go, Odette cuts around quickly.] Hold up.
[Even if they are animals, getting anywhere in the hotel still requires the usual methods of transportation. If they want to go anywhere else, the goat and the herding dog are going to have to wait for an elevator to come to their floor. As massive as she is, Odette's snout is still within pressing range of the call button, which she does.
After that, she steps back and resumes pacing, warily looking to see if Giselle will capitalize on the more open opportunity to go on an adventure or wait patiently, or if she might need to bounce on her heels to drive her into the open lift.]

[ That most of the time, she's alone in the house, might be a clue into why she seems to find so much fulfillment in doing her work; to have someone to serve is to mean that she had someone with her. Because she does get lonely... unbearably lonely. And while she would've said as much anyway, here, the words are hummed out neutrally, not said with quite so much somberness as is typical. The truth is, being here, she finds herself feeling a little more distance from that loneliness. Being here with all the guests, it's hard to feel as depressed as she did in the house; it's not just that there's other people around, but there's people who talk to her and think about her — even think about her when she's a silly goat.
Instead, she just huffs out a noncommittal sound through her snout, shaking her head left to right so that her ears flop around a bit, as if shaking off a shiver. An animalistic, kneejerk reaction to dispel the bit of sadness those words had welled up in her heart — an action which her improved attitude finds preferable to latching on to that dreariness.
Case in point, when Odette is occupied with pressing the call button, she can't help but want to look around at their surroundings, in a more curious state since Odette's put her at ease with her unintentionally comforting words. However, it just so happens that there is a rather delicious looking hat that's been left out on a nearby hallway bench, and soon as her eyes catch it, while she doesn't bolt off, she does start trotting off toward it without a second thought. While the urge to eat might not be strong in her, the urge to chew still is. ]

[Whatever commentary on Giselle's temporary reprieve from her life of restrain and service gets interrupted. It was just for a second, but as soon as Odette turned her back to prod the lift call, her herding quarry started wandering off. Goats really are the most stubborn creatures, no matter how gormless they look. For her part, Odette is pleased to see Giselle's full hard-headedness on display.]
Oi. [Giselle often seems like she's partially got one foot in her own, unpleasant world, but she rarely gets distracted by idle shiny objects. To Odette's human brain, that's every reason to let her go and see what unfolds. But to her herding dog brain, she wants to chase and circle.
Odette trots up alongside Giselle until she fully passes her, standing on the other side of the atrium but leaving plenty of room toward both the elevator and bench sides. She half-bows down on her forelegs, a posture that's either playful or ready to pounce.]
Whatcha doing?
