Happy February, folks! The hotel is chugging along as it always does and nothing really seems that out of the ordinary, actually. Mr Bennet is at the front desk as per usual, greeting new guests, checking out old ones, generally being mediocre at his job but there's something a little... off about him this morning. A little more Springtime focused. Is it the suit? No, no, that's the same as it always is. Is it the face? No, Mr Bennet's face is unable to be perceived by eyes as per usual. No, it's the —
The bunny ears?
HOP TO IT
It seems Mr Bennet has developed a pair of bunny ears and a tail overnight, but he's not the only one. Every staff member and guest of the hotel will find that they have grown a pair of animal ears and a matching tail when they wake up that morning. It's nekomimi time, y'all! But not just neko, characters will find themselves with all categories of ears and tails. Cats, dogs, rabbit, deer, fish. Whatever animal best suits the characters are what they'll find themselves sporting.
For all intents and purposes, these will be part of your characters bodies and real additional limbs. It will hurt if someone hurts them and they will bleed if someone cuts them. There will be some added bonuses as well as characters will also take on the traits of the animals they become. However players want to interpret this is up to them — it can be light like a cat person just being more aloof or heavy like a spider person having multiple eyes and limbs. Whatever is most fun for the player and most hectic for the character, of course.
This effect will last till the end of the month.
Of course, an additional note: For characters who already have animal ears and/or tails — they will either keep those ears and tails and develop more traits of that animal. Or they can become something entirely different for the month. Player preference!
ANIMAL CRACKERS
Mr Bennet has found this to be hysterical though so he has set up a stall in the main lounge that's advertising animal crackers. They're a little less cracker and more cookie though, and larger than the traditional animal cracker. They also come in all shapes and sizes. If you can think of the animal, you can have an animal cracker with it. There is a dog cracker. There is a whale cracker. There is a spider cracker. All kinds of things. Even fictional animals, like gryphons and dragons!
The only catch is — once your character eats the cracker they will become that animal entirely. This is probably tipped off by the bunny rabbit hopping around the lounge in a little hotel jacket, huh. Thanks Mr Bennet. The effect of these crackers will last as long as the player prefers and characters are free to eat another cracker and become another animal afterwards.
One thing though, as the animal, characters will still be able to speak in animal form. So there's that!
The animal crackers will also be available till the end of the month.
fushiguro megumi | jujutsu kaisen
[ If not for the fact that he can sense the familiar presence of a few people he knows around, Megumi would have left this bizarre, cosmic hotel right away. He doesn't exactly remember checking in, and he's far too skeptical to believe that some strange building could feasibly grant his wish. Those people that he can sense are far too important to him to ignore, however, and here he will remain for the time being, checking through every floor in search of one Yuji Itadori, Satoru Gojo and Kento Nanami.
There's a black wolf beside him that has its nose fixed to the ground as it tracks the scents of those hotel guests. On his head and sticking out of his pants are also the ears and tail of a black cat. They both make quite the fitting pair. ]
What's with all these floors? [ There sure is a floor that is basically a beach?? ]
[ Or one might catch the boy as he's overcome by the his newfound animal-like instincts. These behaviours can include:
1) Falling asleep in a warm spot or sunbeam, curled up on the floor with his dog against him.
2) Edging closer toward someone else and leaning against them when in a particularly cold room.
3) Knocking plates/cups/other objects over, then feeling bad and reorganising them.
4) Smacking a stranger somewhere on their body, if they have a fly, shiny object or dangling object that catches his eye. If he smacks anyone on the butt he will check himself into the afterlife.
He will be profoundly embarrassed by all of them. ]
🐱ANIMAL CRACKERS
[ Megumi is not a fan of sweets or cookies, but he's not impervious to hunger, or the friendly trickery of a close friend. That's why he's in this situation at all. He had eaten a cracker after Itadori had told him to. It looked innocent enough?
Anyway, he will be wandering the hotel as a rather skittish, skinny black cat with green eyes. This black cat will mostly be avoiding anyone he doesn't know, but he will still engage in cat-related shenanigans (as above).
Or, your character might catch him desperately trying to slip his way back to his room when he eventually changes back and finds himself buck naked in the hallways? ]
🐱WILDCARD
[ Do something else with me! ] ]
wildcard ily
He wakes up in his hotel room and there's a new scent nearby, but it's not new in the way that Juju-chan had been, or Sumina-san, it was familiar, like Gojo-sensei and Nanamin. What that tells him immediately is even if he's not sure who has arrived, it's someone he knows, someone familiar. The ache inside of him burns, demanding that he go and figure it out, and his hands shake as he pushes himself up.
He's afraid to hope. He's afraid of a lot of things, but... Hope terrifies him at the moment.
Stumbling out of his room, he immediately gets himself on the trail of whatever it is, and it's... Next door? No, it's just down the hall, and he turns his head to see... A dog? A boy? Cat ears...
There's no way. No way, right? His hands are shaking, his eyes are wide, and he chokes out the words as they rise up in his throat like bile. ]
Fushi... guro?
no subject
His ears prick, tail standing tall like he's clearly happy to see the other boy. Then he takes in everything that's different and a worry sets in, that tail starting to flick just a little. ]
Itadori. [ The scars around his eyes are gone. That could be a good thing, but he's also has such a terrible feeling about it. ]
... Something happened.

[ They can’t keep getting away with this!!
Yuji stares at Megumi for a long, long time, looking between him and the divine dog before he breathes out a sharp noise. His hands are shaking and he feels a little bit numb, because he really doesn’t think he can do this. He really doesn’t think that he can do this, and his stomach churns with the urge to throw up. This really isn’t fair on Fushiguro and he knows that, but at the same time…
This is what he was fighting for. This is what he was wishing for. But he knows, just from one glimpse of his friend, that Fushiguro has no idea. If he did, their reunion would feel so much different.
Breathing in and out, Yuji covers his mouth, fighting the urge to break down into tears like he had when he saw Gojo and Nanami. Megumi is alive. He’s still alive. Yuji can still save him.
He promised to save him.
Stepping forward, he nods his head. ]
I’m glad you’re here.
no subject
Somehow, the thought of dying doesn't faze or shake him - not in the way the other boy seems to be shaken up. He's long accepted that he would live a short life. The only things he would grieve would be failing to save Tsumiki, and leaving Itadori all alone.
Megumi makes his way to the other boy immediately, the divine dog joining him and sauntering over to sit by Itadori's feet. ]
You're not going to tell me, are you? [ He already knows. He would be surprised if Itadori did open up. ]
no subject
No, there's no way. He already knows what Sukuna did to him, to bury his soul, so deep that nothing seems to have done anything to make him come back, not even what happened to Gojo-sensei. To tell Fushiguro that his sister is gone, that Gojo is gone, that Yuji is risking it all for the hope of saving him, to the point of eating his own brothers...
There's no way, the idea of it unfathomable. He doesn't imagine he'd be able to do it in the future, either. ]
... No.
[ There's a chance that Fushiguro won't accept that, but it's never been the kind of relationship they've had in the past. Yuji's ears droop, his tail hangs, the energy gone from him as he crosses his arms over his chest and clutches at his stomach. ]
Sorry, Fushiguro. I can't do it.
no subject
Still, he knows how stubborn Itadori can be. If he says he can't tell him, there's no way to make him change his mind.
The more important thing right now is that his friend is in distress and he has to do what he can to make him feel better. While he isn't too good at comforting someone else, he will try. Megumi places a hand on the other boy's shoulder. ]
Okay ... [ He won't make him talk, but this is giving him such an ominous feeling for what's to come. ] You've probably been running around since you got here. I think we should go back to your room.

catboy crimes 🐱
Oh. Hello.
Nanami is dressed as usual, though his jacket and sunglasses are discarded at the moment. He's also got a fluffy wolf tail and ears attached to his body. His ears twitch a little and despite himself, his tail wags somewhat as he sees Megumi. ]
Fushiguro-kun. Hello. Did you just arrive?
🐱
Or maybe it's Megumi who is now dead, and this is the afterlife. He's not as bothered by that as one would typically be. ]
Nanami-san. I felt like I was sensing you, but you're --
[ You know. Dead. ]
no subject
We should probably talk in private.
[ And his room is pretty nice. He'll be led through a short hallway into a kitchen area that leads out to a living room. The living room also opens to a porch with a few beach chairs and a hammock as well as a pool. It's all pretty light and airy, in whites and blues and light woods. Very much a beach hotel room vibe.
When they're inside, Nanami will try and be a gracious host first. ]
Would you like some tea or water? Otherwise, I can just explain what I can.
no subject
Just water is fine. [ Without needing to be asked, he takes off his shoes and makes his way inside, sitting politely on the couch. The divine dog is mannered as well, making sure to rub any sand on the mat so it doesn't track inside. ]
no subject
He'll come over to the living area after, setting the glasses down on the coffee table before he takes a seat at the armchair adjacent to Megumi. This is already a much calmer reunion than his one with Yuji, where there were tears (from Yuji) and hugs as a result. Megumi has always kept his emotions a bit more close to the chest, on the other hand.
After that, he'll start the conversation with — ]
From what I know, you have to accept an invitation from the hotel to arrive here. Either on purpose or subconsciously. Is that the case for you, Fushiguro-kun?
no subject
Now that the man is here, calmly handing him a glass of water, it's really sinking in now - this man is gone from their world. He's never going to come back. Growing up, Gojo would bring him along on missions and he would meet the older sorcerer occasionally. He wouldn't say they are close, but he always respected him, so it's still a melancholic thing. ]
I don't fully remember doing it, but that seems to be the case. [ Might as well just ask. ]
Is this the afterlife?

animal crackers!!
So, hope you enjoy the dog that gets in your space and shoves his nose against your body, Megumi. Sniff sniff sniff. What a good kitty. ]
no subject
He's seen other animals roaming around, and given that this is really his first few days in the hotel, it's hard to tell if this is the norm or if everyone else has been changed into an animal. In other words, he has no idea if the golden retriever with its nose in his fur is, in fact, a golden retriever, or a person who has been transformed into one.
However, he's so cute he really can't be mad about the intrusion. Megumi sits down, allowing Ryuji to sniff him but feeling his fur frizz up from being unused to any sort of physical contact at all. ]
Are you -- [ A dog, or a human who has been turned into one? ]
no subject
Which is why he's not bothered enough to not smell anyone he wants to smell and do what he wants to do. He likes this. It makes things feel simple. ]
I'm a human!
[ So, there's that. ]
I'm just also a dog right now. I ate a cookie and now I'm a dog and everything's pretty fun right now. Do you know that you smell amazin'? Like, shit, I wanna lick ya all over!
[ Normal things to say to a person you just met. ]
no subject
Instead he just sits there stiffly, paws politely together and fur frizzed up, tail flicking with nerves because he doesn't know what to make of this situation. If they were human, this would be really, really weird! ]
You're way too happy about being a dog. [ And he's taken aback at the mention of his scent and the licking. Finally, he raises a small paw and baps the other boy on the head. ] Don't do that ...
no subject
Which he is! This is great and feels great. Plus, he gets to meet new people. ]
Okay, I won't! For now. [ eheheh. ] What's your name? I haven't met you yet as a human, have I? I'm Sakamoto Ryuji, but you can call me Ryuji.
[ Ryuji is more of a dog lover than a cat lover, considering his biggest nemesis is the talking cat he knows back home. He's not the biggest fan of cats. But for some reason his doggy brain is making him want to befriend this cat, who smells so good. And it seems to be going alright, in his opinion. ]
no subject
Fushiguro Megumi. [ Even if he was given permission to use the first name, he probably won't, finding that too
lewd... familiar. He's been a closed off person all his life, so he's not used to that. He will if Ryuji pushes him to use it, however. ]I showed up here about an hour ago, so no, we definitely haven't met.

catboy crimes!
Like the workaholic that she is, her innkeeper instincts are the most powerful of all.
All to say, when she spots a napping Meowgumi and dog laying in a sunny spot, she tilts her head thoughtfully, then leaves...
...Only to return with a pillow and blanket, which she is going to so, so carefully try to stealthily tuck under his head and drape over his sleepy self... ]
no subject
He shifts slightly when he feels himself being tucked in. There's really only one nurturing presence in his life, and that's probably why he automatically assumes this person isn't quite who she is. ]
Nngh ... It's too early, Tsumiki ...
no subject
Ah...? Oh - the photos from New Year's!
[ Oh. Stars, she hadn't meant to make that exclamation out loud, and so squeakily. That must have been the mouse in her coming out. At once her hands clap over her mouth as she glances down. This must be... Megumi, then?
That makes two of Satoru's students who have checked in as of late... She wonders what that means for what's transpiring back home, that they should seek refuge - or a wish, or both - here. ]
no subject
Tsumiki, I told you ... [ Told her -- what? What was he wanting to tell her? Tsumiki ...?
Megumi's eyes widen briefly, before the realisation fully sets in. There's a flash of melancholy then, but it fades away once he composes himself and puts on his usual stoic mask.
Before him, there's an older woman with the ears of a mouse he's never seen before. The pillow and blanket are new, so he can assume she had given them to him. ]
... Oh.

When he at last realizes she's there, she offers a small, but warm smile. ]
