EVENT LOG number 002
The hotel humbly hopes that you're settling in well and are taking advantage of the various pleasures on offer for your stay. In Mr Bennet's opinion, things have been going quite well and he doesn't think that the guests are unhappy at all. New guests have arrived, some have left, it's all going along perfectly. So, of course, this is when the next troublesome thing pops up.
SHADOWS
One morning, characters will find the hotel to be a little dimmer than usual, a little more shadowy. Yet if anyone asks Mr Bennet about it, he will claim to not have noticed anything different than usual. Either way, as the characters move on with their day, they'll start to notice a few odd things start to happen. PHASE ONE: Initially, characters will notice their shadow beginning to move a little out of sync with them. Discreetly at first until eventually, their shadow takes on a life of its own, mischievously playing with characters and enjoying their newfound freedom. Very Peter Pan, and completely harmless.
PHASE TWO: Now, shadows might disappear entirely, roaming the hotel to their own discretion and ignoring the characters they belong to. As the shadow takes on this free will, characters will begin to feel slightly off balance and have a hard time feeling whole without their shadow around. The shadow may become slightly aggressive as well if told they should return to their characters, fighting back in their own way from knocking things over to outright attacking other characters. It's a little hard to fight back though when your opponent is a shadow, isn't it?
PHASE THREE: The shadows have become fully aggressive now, fighting anyone who tries to get them to return to their original person. Characters will find themselves feeling weak and low energy as a result of losing their shadow. Eventually, the shadows will come back to their owners but the characters will find themselves sinking into their shadow, eventually changing places entirely with their shadow. The only way to rescue a character from this fate is for another character to pull them out of their shadow forcibly. The bright side is once a character is pulled out of their shadow, it all returns to normal and their shadow is no longer sentient. These phases will last over the course of the week and it is quite alright to stay in phase one/two/three. Not all shadows will become aggressive, not all shadows will be playful. Feel free to manipulate your character's shadow in the way that's most fun for you.

Cute that you think it will stop at yelling.

I’ll take whatever punishment comes.
[Time to follow him out of here!]

Hn. I am sure you will.

They find a konbini floor. Henry gazes about, brows rising. The lights hurt his head a little, but that’s why he’s here, isn’t it.]
I’m sure they’ll have something here. You can grab a snack while I look.
no subject
You have brought me to alchemist shop?
no subject
Actually, he doesn’t know precisely what this store is. A convenience shop? A very packed general goods store?]
You won’t find any fizzy healing potions in here.
[He says, airily, disappearing down an aisle.]
no subject
well! fine!! she doesn't need someone to hold her hand through the experience of shopping at an alchemist's. she scowls and moves towards the nearest shelf of ... well, drinks, but they certainly look like potions. ]
Honestly..
no subject
But he's rounding the corner to find her soon enough, a little bottle in his hand.]
Found it.
[Did Sprezzatura find anything of interest while she was looking around--]
no subject
Found what?
no subject
Well. He did say she should pick something out. He looks amused as he draws closer and shakes the plastic bottle. The pills rattle around.]
The painkillers, silly. And it looks like even though you’re hesitant about some things, you’re bold with others. I bet you’ll like some of that.
[I hope Sprezzatura picked out an energy drink without realizing it in her haul.]
no subject
Oh. [ the narcotics, he means. she'd almost forgotten, between the exhaustion and the distractions. she shifts her haul into one arm so she can rub at her eyes, suddenly aware again of how dry and achy they are. ] Mammon, I am forgetting we are here to drug me.

Henry waves a hand and a little plastic basket floats on over. He takes it by the handle and holds it out, so she can place all her items inside of it. Yes, he’s using his powers so soon after getting his nosebleed under control, what of it!]
You’ll thank me later. I promise. The alternative is you nursing that bruise for longer than necessary.

SNATCHES THE BASKET ]
What are you doing, so soon after being petulant child about nosebleed?
no subject

.... ]
Mammon. Let us get this over with, then.
no subject
Well, off they go! They don’t even have to pay, because it’s free. They’ll make their way down to their floor in time, though Henry’s already twisting off the cap off the bottle at some point, shaking out two pills.
He hands them to her. He is peak Orderly Mode now.]
Swallow them with something to drink.
no subject
gazing down at the red and white pills with the same wariness as a child would. he'll be intimately familiar with that hesitance. ]
What is in them?
no subject
It’s a non-addictive analgesic.
[Don’t make Henry play pharmacist. He isn’t actually a doctor or a scientist.]
Relieves moderate pain and it’ll reduce fever. We used to give it to the children in the lab sometimes.
no subject
...What are you talking about, lab?
no subject
There are [were, mostly] others who possess… variants of my abilities. And that alone was enough for the government to think they were worthy of study.
So, a lab.
no subject
Your home sounds so ... sterile. Narrow-minded. Constrained.
no subject
[He smiles, then shakes out two more pills for himself, popping them into his mouth. Swallows them dry.]
I can't say I'm all that fond of home, not after you see a place like that.
no subject
as they descend the elevator, she will... lean heavy on the rail. ]
Why do you not go somewhere else? Another city, different country?
