It's a reference to a very beloved story in my world; I'm quite certain of it. It's called, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The story is about a young girl, Alice who stumbles into a world unlike her own and it's what some call surreal and fantastical. Many of its motifs and imagery are so iconic that it gets referenced in other pieces of literature.
