Happy February, folks! The hotel is chugging along as it always does and nothing really seems that out of the ordinary, actually. Mr Bennet is at the front desk as per usual, greeting new guests, checking out old ones, generally being mediocre at his job but there's something a little... off about him this morning. A little more Springtime focused. Is it the suit? No, no, that's the same as it always is. Is it the face? No, Mr Bennet's face is unable to be perceived by eyes as per usual. No, it's the —
The bunny ears?
HOP TO IT
It seems Mr Bennet has developed a pair of bunny ears and a tail overnight, but he's not the only one. Every staff member and guest of the hotel will find that they have grown a pair of animal ears and a matching tail when they wake up that morning. It's nekomimi time, y'all! But not just neko, characters will find themselves with all categories of ears and tails. Cats, dogs, rabbit, deer, fish. Whatever animal best suits the characters are what they'll find themselves sporting.
For all intents and purposes, these will be part of your characters bodies and real additional limbs. It will hurt if someone hurts them and they will bleed if someone cuts them. There will be some added bonuses as well as characters will also take on the traits of the animals they become. However players want to interpret this is up to them — it can be light like a cat person just being more aloof or heavy like a spider person having multiple eyes and limbs. Whatever is most fun for the player and most hectic for the character, of course.
This effect will last till the end of the month.
Of course, an additional note: For characters who already have animal ears and/or tails — they will either keep those ears and tails and develop more traits of that animal. Or they can become something entirely different for the month. Player preference!
ANIMAL CRACKERS
Mr Bennet has found this to be hysterical though so he has set up a stall in the main lounge that's advertising animal crackers. They're a little less cracker and more cookie though, and larger than the traditional animal cracker. They also come in all shapes and sizes. If you can think of the animal, you can have an animal cracker with it. There is a dog cracker. There is a whale cracker. There is a spider cracker. All kinds of things. Even fictional animals, like gryphons and dragons!
The only catch is — once your character eats the cracker they will become that animal entirely. This is probably tipped off by the bunny rabbit hopping around the lounge in a little hotel jacket, huh. Thanks Mr Bennet. The effect of these crackers will last as long as the player prefers and characters are free to eat another cracker and become another animal afterwards.
One thing though, as the animal, characters will still be able to speak in animal form. So there's that!
The animal crackers will also be available till the end of the month.

Though when it speaks, that changes to a surprised lash of the tail. ]
Is that you, Miss Navia?

[ She does a little hop to emphasize her excitement. ]
Yes, it's me. I'm not sure what's happening, but I'm having a surprising amount of fun right now. I'll have to figure out how to change back soon, though!

How did this happen?
no subject
[ Which is probably enough of an explanation. ]
They taste great, which is why I couldn't help myself -- you know how I am with snacks. Turns out they were some kind of trap!

[ Which should be common sense by now, but where's the fun in that! ]
Anyway... I have a request, Lynette. I may need some help returning to my room. I can't quite, er...reach the elevator keys.

animal crackers
This inclination rockets through him once more, like a lightning strike coursing through his nerves. The little rabbit stands on its hind legs, and Henry briefly tilts his head to look at her.]
In my way? No. But...
[Lowers himself on his front legs slightly, head bowed down in that dog-like way of just-about-to-lunge-forward.]
I'd run if I were you.
[Maybe he should fight it a little harder, but there's also something appealing about a predator chasing down prey--]
no subject
R-run?! You don't plan on-
[ Now isn't the time for talk, though, she realizes, and she kicks off into a sprint, trying to create as much distance between herself and the dog as possible. ]

His heart beats hard in his chest; excitement thrums through him in ways it never has before, at least not in a very long while.
In a half-bark, half-shout:]
Run faster or I'll catch you-!
[He's gaining ground, but the corridor eventually spills into what appears to be a very fancy dining room which will not at all be disastrous probably.]
no subject
[ She says it with as much bravado as she can muster, but Navia is normally the one giving chase, not the other way around. There's something oddly exhilarating about being on the other side of things, almost like it's a challenge she needs to show up for -- and she's hellbent on outsmarting this dog. The fancy dining room has a lot of ways for her to hide from him, after all!
So, she takes a giant plunge forward once they get into the dining room -- the plunge takes her behind a table, which is stationed next to a chair. A hard place for him to get to, perhaps, but it's not entirely inaccessible, either. Her prey instincts are on full alert now, too, so she's not letting her guard down for a second. ]

Unfortunately, his target dives behind a table, and he ducks down low between chair legs to try to follow... but he's too big. He can lower his head, stretch his forelegs out to try to squeeze under, but it's not a quick process.
BARKS AT HER!!! i'm sorry]
You can't hide! I can scent you!
no subject
Come and get me, then!
[ She knows that she's not off the hook, though. His forelegs are extending in her general direction. She tries to make another dart to the right to hide under another chair, but if he's quick enough, he may be able to get her. ]

it takes a second to realize what she said. ]
That’s one way to put it. [ hw scoffs, ears now twitching in annoyance. ]

You seem hungry. You're free to take one, if you'd like! I have plenty more where that came from.
[ She may have stocked up on veggies...don't worry about it.... ]
Take your pick.
funny bunny
I agree. This is strange even by the standards of this hotel.
[Which is saying something.]
no subject
Isn't it just? And this hotel has done some pretty strange things in the time I've been here.
[ Chewing on her veggie again, then – ]
I keep having this urge to gnaw on things...which I can only assume is normal behavior for my assigned animal. You seem to be in quite the predicament yourself, however...?
no subject
[It was minus at least 100 energy points. Luckily, no one aside from a staff member was there to see her in that state.]
I'm grateful that the hotel is being so accommodating to our respective situations, however. All we need to do is ride the strangeness out.
no subject
[ She can't imagine enjoying being stuck in...that for so long. ]
Either way, I guess you're right. It could be a lot worse, I suppose. I think this is all just Mr. Bennet's way of giving us an interesting experience.
no subject
[ She does miss walking, though. ]
He's very insistent at making sure our experience is... um, memorable.
animal crackers
[Kanji, sporting a pair of black, floppy canine ears and a tail to match, practically leaps out of the way as the rabbit in question circles around his feet while he's walking, narrowly missing tripping over her. Never one to resist animal crackers, he has a little box of them in one hand and cracker in the other— the animal itself indiscernible thanks to the way he's holding it— but rerouting himself to avoid stumbling over Navia has distracted him from taking his first bite.
Rather than continuing on, he crouches down to put himself a little closer to the rabbit's height. He's still a hell of a lot taller, even with her on her hind legs, but it's better than looking straight down.]
I wouldn't say you're in my way, but you might wanna watch where you're goin'. If someone ain't paying attention, that could end real bad— you're pretty little.
[Real damn cute, though. This hotel is freaking awesome. Nobody ever gets turned into animals back home!]
no subject
Oh, my apologies, monsieur! I only wanted to have a little fun, but I didn't mean to startle you. I hope you're alright?
[ She's not going to run around anymore, at least. Still, there's something she needs to point out, given the animal crackers in his hand... ]
And be careful with those crackers, okay? I have a feeling that those are what turned me into...this.
no subject
[Her warning, however, has him turning his attention towards the cookie in his hand, tail wagging thoughtfully.]
So... you think this is what did it?
no subject
[ As for the cookie in his hand, Navia hums contemplatively. She'd be frowning a lot more obviously if she were a human. ]
It could be. Unless there was something in the vegetables I ate earlier, I can't think of anything that might have done it. The timing was convenient. On the upside, they taste very good, so do what you will with that knowledge.
no subject
[Like, being a rabbit? That sounds like a good time to him.
He frowns a little, his mouth quirking to one side.]
Huh. Never met an animal cracker I didn't like. And even if somethin' happened, it's not like it'd be forever, right? Probably.
